NEIGHBORHOODHELP PROGRAM EVALUATOR
The Florida International University (FIU) Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine seeks applicants for an exciting non- tenure faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, with duties as the Neighborhood Health Education Learning Program (NeighborhoodHELP) Program Evaluator within the Department of Humanities, Health and Society. This position will be responsible for implementing protocols to assess the effectiveness and measure the performance of a wide range of social and clinical services. The qualified applicant will work with stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of the multifaceted health and social issues involved with NeighborhoodHELP; conduct and produce rigorous and insightful analyses and evaluative inputs; work with a data scientist to develop and implement the department’s research operations plan; develop evaluation frameworks for grant applications, contracts, and project proposals; and utilize evaluation results to create sustainable strategies of measurement and quality improvement. In addition, this position will have educational responsibitlies that include assisting in developing and teaching courses on the social determinants of health, health education, community-based research, ethical considerations, innovation as a social change tool, and society policy. The NeighborhoodHELP Program Evaluator will also perform internal trainings and/or workshops to educate department faculty and staff on evaluation techniques, strategies and designs that will be implemented.
Minimum qualifications include a terminal degree (MD or PhD) or Master’s degree in related field and five years of experience in evaluating community-based programs, place-based initiatives, or community-campus partnership models.
Preferred experience includes knowledge of the social determinants of health and the social, economic, and structural contributions to health disparities, the demonstrated ability to work well within cross-functional teams, and a track record of innovation to create solutions. Additionally, previous planning and program implementation and evaluation strategies, experience working with quantitative (e.g., SPSS, SAS) and/or qualitative (e.g., NVivo) data analysis software programs, strong written and verbal communication skills, analysis of community level impact (i.e., Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Social Network Analysis), and Cost-Benefit Analysis are preferred.
