Macomb Community College professors demonstrate deep subject matter knowledge and provide effective instruction to students using various modalities including, but not limited to, on campus, online, remote, hybrid, and flexible learning. They develop, modify, and ensure currency of curriculum and course syllabi. Faculty are responsive to their students and support their success through timely communication and feedback, assessment of student learning, regular office hours, etc. They are active members of the college community and attend department meetings as required.

Job Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES (as outlined in the MCCFO collective bargaining agreement):

  • Primary responsibility will be to teach 15-16 credit hours in Anthropology in each of the fall and winter semesters (with opportunities to teach additional sections for extra compensation through the academic calendar).
  • Develop, update, and refine Anthropology courses and programs.
  • Develop course assessments that will accurately measure achievement of student learning outcomes and participate in assessment of student learning.
  • Assess student academic achievement.
  • Develop and maintain course materials in the College's Learning Management System (LMS), including, but not limited to, announcements, syllabus, and gradebook.
  • Maintain an up-to-date gradebook and submit final grades by published deadlines.
  • Participate and actively cooperate with the departmental and Learning Unit directives to meet accreditation standards.
  • Hold office hours per the MCCFO collective bargaining agreement.
  • Identify teaching materials for Anthropology courses, recommend schedule of classes, act as adjunct coordinator.
  • Actively participate on area and college committees and perform related duties and activities necessary to conduct the work of the area.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned in compliance with the MCCFO collective bargaining agreement.


Education

A master's degree or higher in Anthropology from an accredited institution. Transcripts must be submitted with your application. Copies of transcripts are acceptable for use during the screening process. If you are offered the position, official transcripts must be provided.

Qualifications

At least one year (24 credit hours) teaching experience at a community college or university preferred.
