Resident Assistant Professor - Medical Anthropology – Creighton University, Department of Cultural and Social Studies
The Department of Cultural and Social Studies at Creighton University invites applications for a non-tenure track Resident Assistant Professor for a one-year appointment specializing in medical anthropology beginning in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will teach a 4-4 course load.
The Department of Cultural and Social Studies is an undergraduate department with several distinct, yet complementary programs. We seek dynamic instructors with a desire to teach excellent undergraduate students. Along with teaching courses in medical anthropology, candidates may be expected to engage students from a variety of disciplines. Depending on the successful candidate’s area of specific expertise, the courses they teach may support major/minor requirements for other Departmental programs, including cultural anthropology, public health, sociology, criminal justice, social work, health administration and policy, and/or justice and peace studies.
Qualifications:
1. A Ph.D. in Anthropology (or a closely related field) is preferred; ABD will be considered
2. Ability to foster student learning, development, and decision making in support of students’ goals, success, wellness, and needs
3. Evidence of excellent college level teaching is preferred
4. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport quickly and effectively with a diversity of populations
5. Empathy and compassion for the experiences of others
