POSITION: Archaeologist Senior

SALARY: $34.55-40.05, per hour

REPORTS TO: Program Manager

LOCATION: Wenatchee, WA

Basic Functions: This announcement is for an Archaeologist Senior who will work for the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation (CTCR) with the Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest (OWNF). Desk space is available at OWNF Supervisor's Office in Wenatchee, Washington and remote working is feasible.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:


  • Requires a Master's degree in Anthropology, History, Archaeology, or Cultural Resources Management pertinent to the position; AND 4 years field experience in prehistoric archaeology with an emphasis in CRM contract work; AND 1 year supervisory experience.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Requires Demonstrate knowledge of cultural resources laws and regulations;

  • Familiarity implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act as described in 36CFR800;

  • Work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of this position;

  • Knowledge of standard archaeological equipment and techniques required;

  • Must have some knowledge of the cultural history or language(s) of the CTCR ;

  • Must have some knowledge of the geography in the Columbia River & OWNF lands;

  • Must demonstrate a working knowledge of CTCR history, culture, legends, and traditions as they pertain to the 12 Tribes.

  • Knowledge to conduct background research independently.

  • Must be able to multitask and meet deadlines

  • Ability to write and produce reports to professional standards, including knowledge of appropriate writing style, layout, citation procedures, map preparation, and preparation of final and published documents. Maintaining project administrative paperwork preferred.

  • Incumbent must be able to interact with the public in a positive and friendly way.

  • Incumbent must be self-motivated and have an ability to work alone.

  • Have a basic comfort level with hand tools (hammers, screw drivers, etc.).

  • Incumbent must be able and willing to ask for assistance.

  • Incumbent must maintain good judgement and common sense.

  • Must be able to work cooperatively with co-workers, elders, agency staff, and the visiting public.



Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver's license and be eligible for the Tribes' Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
