The University Museum Curator is responsible for the stewardship and presentation of the museum's collections. This role oversees acquisition, care, and exhibition development, fostering educational and cultural engagement within the university and the broader community. The curator works closely with faculty, students, and external partners to ensure the integration of museum resources into academic programs and public outreach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the acquisition, documentation, conservation, and cataloging of museum artifacts.
  • Ensure the proper care, storage, and preservation of the collection, adhering to industry standards.
  • Design and curate dynamic museum exhibitions that align with academic curricula and enhance public knowledge.
  • Collaborate with faculty and students on exhibit content, promoting interdisciplinary research and learning.
  • Create and manage educational programs, including lectures, workshops, and guided tours, to engage students, faculty, and the public.
  • Develop partnerships with university departments and external organizations to enhance the museum's educational mission.
  • Conduct scholarly research on the museum's collection and related fields.
  • Publish research findings and contribute to the academic community through lectures, articles, and conferences.
  • Work with university departments to integrate museum collections into teaching and research.
  • Partner with external institutions for joint exhibitions, research projects, and resource-sharing initiatives.
  • Promote the museum through marketing campaigns, social media, and public relations efforts.
  • Assist in fundraising efforts, including grant writing and donor engagement, to support the museum's programs and expansion.
  • Oversee the museum's operational functions, including budgeting, staff supervision, and volunteer management.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and professional standards for museum operations.

Education
  • Master's degree in Museum Studies, Art History, Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in museum curation, with expertise in collection management, exhibition design, and educational programming.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
