SUMMARY
Stampede Ventures, Inc., a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified Archeologist for the Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System projects in the Santa Fe, New Mexico area. The Archeologist will provide support and expertise in support of the Construction Consultant as well as the local governments, state of New Mexico, local tribal governments, neighborhoods, and communities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Job is performed in both an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system as well as on active construction sites. Exposure to dust, dirt, and the elements are to be expected.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.

- The Archeologist will inspect all excavations pertaining to the work completed under this contract by the PBRWS. Core samples, test pits, utility location potholes, or other ground disturbing work will be monitored and inspected in the field by Stampede's Archeologist for stratigraphic analysis and to identify archaeological remains or deposits.
- The Archeologist will document soils profiles and the presence or absence of archaeological materials and provide written monitoring reports that describe the excavation activities.
- The Archeologist will provide employee awareness training to all excavation workers on the site in support of cultural resource monitoring requirements. The Archeologist will provide support for monthly reporting of monitoring locations, activities, as part of the monthly status report.
- The Archeologist will provide support for a summary report of monitoring activities, to include standardized log forms for each excavation, core sample, test pit, and utility pothole, within 4 weeks after field activities are completed.

Required (Minimum) Qualifications
- B.A. in Anthropology
- Field experience with surveying and mapping
- Experience performing historical research and museum collections analysis
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
- The Archeologist must have documented experience in archeological project management, monitoring plans, cultural resource investigations, pre-field surveys, mapping and agency consultation in the completion of excavation work in tribal protected areas.
- The Archeologist will be responsible for the performance of the work for the Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System work under this contract.
- The Archeologist must have documented on the job experience associated with cultural resource management and have the knowledge, skills, experience, and training in the numerous specialties required to complete archaeological and architectural monitoring.
- The Archeologist must be able to perform the required duties of this position with little to no supervision.
- Ph.D, in Anthropology
- Documented publications and reports pertaining to the field of archeology
- Teaching experience in the field of archeology
- Active in professional services pertaining to the field of archeology
- Active professional memberships pertaining to the field of archeology
