Environmental Consulting & Technology, Inc. is seeking a Principal Investigator (PI) to oversee projects in the southwestern United States and Midwest. The PI will oversee archeological and historical investigations, ensuring compliance with relevant environmental and cultural regulations.

For the southwestern states candidates must be qualified as a Principal Investigator for BLM lands in one or more of the following states:
  • Arkansas
  • Colorado
  • Kansas
  • Missouri
  • New Mexico
  • Texas

For the midwestern states candidates must have experience in one or more of the following states:
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Kentucky
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • Ohio
  • Wisconsin

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct archival and background research related to cultural resources utilizing a variety of sources.
  • Prepare cultural resource assessment and field reports, or other archaeological/historic resources documentation as required per applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Manage, lead or coordinate archaeological field surveys including pedestrian surveys, subsurface surveys, archaeological monitoring, and tribal consultant surveys
  • Demonstrated laboratory experience including the ability to identify, analyze, and document prehistoric and historic period artifacts.

Education and Experience
  • Master's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology or closely related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience leading archaeological field surveys and preparing related cultural resources documentation in the Southwest and/or Midwest.
  • Candidates must be a Registered Professional Archaeologist.
  • Candidates wishing to lead by example by participating in fieldwork are desired.
  • Demonstrated experience with applicable local, state, and federal cultural resource laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ArcGIS PRO experience.
  • Familiarity with electronic data collection procedures and applications.
  • Experience in researching/documenting historic resources and experience with assessing visual impacts on aboveground resources is desired but not required.
