Summary
Involves developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations, and to ensure a safe and sustainable workplace.
Safeguards and ensures NYPA meets its regulatory obligations and requirements as it pertains to a wide variety of cultural resources issues. Obligations include archeology, historic architecture, historic preservation, and construction practices. Ensures the Authority remains in compliance and good standing with National, State, Local Historic Preservation Groups and Native American Nations.#LI-VB1
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and surveys related to archeology, historic architecture, historic preservation, and construction practices.
- Assist in developing and implementing compliance requirements for cultural resources in projects.
- Contribute to the assessment of potential impacts on cultural resources and participate in the development of comprehensive mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure effective integration of cultural resources considerations into project plans and activities.
- Ensure compliance with Federal historic preservation laws and regulations, as well as other applicable environmental regulations.
- Produce comprehensive cultural resource documents.
- Provide regular status updates on cultural resources compliance activities to relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate and complete site inspections, as needed, to validate and record damage and assist in the compliance process.
- Collaborate with various Business Units and Departments to provide support for specific tasks within the areas of expertise.
- Maintain awareness of evolving state and federal agency regulatory requirements regarding environmental compliance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Intermediate knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Knowledge with cultural resources compliance requirements, historic preservation laws, and environmental impact assessment.
- Ability to actively contribute to consensus-building in an operating and/or construction environment.
- Intermediate project management and planning skills; ability to manage contractual matters and consultant work efforts.
- Intermediate analytical and problem-solving skills for assessing potential impacts on cultural resources and developing mitigation strategies.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex regulations and issues to stakeholders.
- Proficient in conducting research, surveys, and reviews related to cultural resources compliance.
- Ability to provide technical expertise and support for environmental and cultural resources compliance.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and lead small workgroups.
Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree required. BS Degree in a Cultural Resource related field (Anthropology, Archaeology, History) preferred.
- An advanced degree and/or Professional Certification in a related field, is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of related experience
- Working knowledge of federal and state approval processes
- Knowledge in a variety of utility industry issues in subject matter field
Physical Requirements
Up to 30% travel primarily within NY State.
The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is: $99,350.00 - $136,600.00. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
