EMH&T is seeking a senior Archaeologist to join our Columbus, OH team as Manager of Cultural Resources.
The position will manage the cultural team who works closely with EMH&T’s environmental. You will have management oversite of all cultural resource projects and staff. Projects may range from small, local surveys to large, out of state projects.
Our Cultural Resource team works on a variety of projects that require compliance with federal, state and local regulations, and we are committed to excellence in our work.
Responsibilities
Serve as a senior technical lead for cultural resources management projects. Oversee the planning and implementation of multiple cultural resources projects simultaneously with the help of EMH&T’s project managers Coordinating with clients and government agencies (e.g., Ohio State Historic Preservation Office and other SHPOs). Assist with budget preparation, invoicing and tracking. Oversee and ensure technical accuracy of field investigations, data analysis, and report writing. Advise and consult with project managers to ensure project compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act and associated federal and state regulations. Serve as lead author and technical reviewer of cultural resources reports. Help promote and maintain a safe, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications
Graduate degree (MA/MS or Ph.D.) in anthropology, archaeology, or closely related field. Meet the Secretary of Interior's Professional Qualifications for Archaeology. Experience and ability to serve as the Principal Investigator (PI) for complex, high-profile projects for a variety of clients and sectors. Strong working knowledge of National Historic Preservation Act (Section 106, Section 110), National Environmental Policy Act, and associated federal and state laws and regulations. Minimum of 10 years demonstrated, full-time experience working on cultural resources projects, with progressive experience toward directing research efforts/projects. The ability to independently identify Pre-Contact and Historic Period cultural resources.
Preferred Qualifications
ODOT Prequalification in Archaeological Investigations ODOT Prequalification in History/Architectural Investigations Professional accreditation, e.g., Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) Experience with cemeteries and history/architecture Experience and capability across the US in providing cultural resources services
