The Department of Anthropology at Florida State University invites applications for a Specialized Teaching Faculty #58905 position in Cultural Anthropology beginning in August 2025. We are seeking a dynamic colleague with expertise in applied anthropology, broadly defined, in fields such as business anthropology, community health, environmental anthropology, UX research, or related areas. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses that both complement and expand our current offerings, while also contributing to the growth and development of our PhD program. Our graduate program emphasizes biocultural anthropology and scientific methodological approaches, and we welcome applicants who can enhance its interdisciplinary reach. The geographic focus for this position is open.

This is a 12-month renewable contract position at the rank of Teaching Faculty I, with opportunities for rank advancement and promotion. Teaching faculty at FSU typically carry a 4-4-2 teaching load and are expected to participate in the shared governance of the department and university. Teaching expectations may be adjusted based on class size and service commitments. Primary responsibilities include teaching required courses for the undergraduate major, as well as upper-division and graduate courses aligned with the candidate’s area of expertise.
