Job Details
The Department of Anthropology at Hunter College of the City University of New York invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology specializing in either 1.) medical anthropology with a possible ethnographic focus on global health, biomedical institutions, or alternative/traditional health practices, ideally attending to issues of inequality based on race, gender, class, immigration status, sexuality, disability, ethnicity and/or tribal status; or, 2.) environmental anthropology with a possible ethnographic focus on the climate crisis, science studies, migration, environmental policy, activism and justice, cultural or political ecology, Indigenous knowledge and practice, or human-nonhuman interaction. In either field, we are open to all themes broadly relating to questions of power and inequality. Geographic specializations open. The appointment will begin July 1, 2025, subject to administrative and budgetary approval.

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology at the time of appointment. Applicants must have teaching experience and a commitment to work in multicultural and urban educational settings.
COMPENSATION
Salary commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience ($75,465– $99,532).
