The Department of Anthropology and Middle Eastern Cultures (AMEC) invites applications for an Assistant Professor, tenure-track position in applied cultural anthropology, beginning August 16th 2025. Regional focus is open. The preferred candidate will bring innovative methodologies for training students in engaged and/ or applied anthropology that have the potential to build collaboration within and across the sub-disciplines of the department.

 

AMEC is a dynamic department offering an anthropology major and Middle Eastern studies minor, with an applied anthropology MA program including a cultural anthropology track, and applied archaeology, bioarchaeology, and forensics tracks. A strong, active research agenda with the potential for involving graduate and undergraduate students is crucial to this position. The successful candidate will contribute to our track in applied cultural anthropology and must demonstrate a strong commitment to both graduate and undergraduate teaching and mentoring. The preferred candidate will be able to teach introduction to cultural anthropology, qualitative/quantitative research methods, as well as topical courses in their area of study. The position carries a 2:3 teaching load and a nationally competitive salary.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

Basic qualifications: Applicant must have a Ph.D. or equivalent foreign degree in Anthropology or closely related field. Ph.D. must be in hand by August 16th 2025. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong research activity and an excellent record of teaching.

 

Position available: August 16th 2025, with academic year beginning Fall 2025.
