Job DescriptionJob Description
LSA is seeking a qualified individual for an Archaeologist RPA/RA position to join our team in Central CA or the Bay Area. The overall responsibility of the selected individual will be to operate as a project manager and participate in all aspects of fieldwork and laboratory analyses, as warranted; develop and maintain relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and Native Americans; manage projects, develop budgets, and maintain schedules; direct personnel; and prepare proposals in response to Requests for Proposals and Qualifications.
Projects can be multidisciplinary, requiring knowledge of cultural resources management, prehistoric and historical archaeology, history, historical architecture, or traditional cultural properties. Projects will involve cultural resource inventory, evaluation, and mitigation, which may include directing and conducting archival, background, and technical research; field surveys and excavations; laboratory work; data analysis; and the report preparation. Fieldwork may occur throughout California, so the successful candidate will need to be flexible with regard to short- and medium-duration absences for project tasks. The volume of work available on a weekly basis will depend on overall CRG workload, project-specific needs, and the individual's knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have an M.A. or M.S. in Cultural Resources Management, Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field (or will be awarded the degree within 6 months of hire), with a minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in California Cultural Resources Management. The individual must be able to meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards for archeology and be certified by the Register of Professional Archaeologists (or have an application under review).
