Full-time Field Archaeologist
Summary: DAWSON is seeking a Field Archaeologist for the conservation and planning team. Our staff participates in a variety of projects across DAWSON�s services throughout the country. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Cultural Resources Team. The position would require occasional overnight travel for up to a week at a time, possibly more. As this posting is a remote-work position candidates from all parts of the country are encouraged to apply but based in Arizona or California is preferred. This is a full-time, salaried position.
Salary: $55,000-$65,000

Responsibilities:
Perform a wide range of archaeological fieldwork: survey, testing, data recovery, literature reviews and research.
- Assist with permit coordination, literature reviews, and research.
- Complete fieldwork tasks, some writing will be required.
- Support preparation of proposals in accordance with the proposal schedule and budget.
Requirements:
- B.A. or B.S. degree in Anthropology/Archaeology or History, or related field
- 12 months+ of experience in Cultural Resources fieldwork
- Familiarity with Section 106 processes and NRHP eligibility criteria for sites
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Able to pass a federal and state background check for project-based assignments.
- Familiarity with GPS Eros Arrow -100
Preferred Requirements:
- Advance degree in Archaeology or related field.
- Experience with cultural resources (and cultural resources management), including ability to complete field tasks.
- High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written.
- Organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
