Supervising Archaeologist for a Premier Cultural Resources Consulting Firm - Portland, OR
Acumen is proud to partner with Archaeological Investigations Northwest, Inc. (AINW) to find their next Supervising Archaeologist to support their expanding business. Our client is a group of long-tenured architectural historians, archaeologists, and technical specialists who have a passion for history and are dedicated to positively impacting our community in the present. At AINW you will work with multidisciplinary teams to balance new infrastructure development with the preservation of important places. You will play a significant role in contributing to local knowledge of archaeology and history.

Compensation: Salary of $66,500 to $87,360 per year and a generous benefits package.
Your key responsibilities would include:
Leading field investigations throughout Oregon and Washington. The position includes a supervisory role for field investigations and authorship of reports. The position presents a valuable opportunity for career growth, as you will be mentored by current AINW Project Managers who have unsurpassed knowledge of archaeology and the business of cultural resource consulting in the Pacific Northwest.
You would report to AINW Project Managers/Assistant Project Managers. We are seeking a candidate who can work full-time and travel frequently (up to 50% of your time) when needed for meetings and fieldwork.

- Collecting data at archaeological resource locations.
- Analyzing and interpreting complex field data.
- Preparing written reports for submission to clients, agencies, and Tribes.
- Assisting with project coordination tasks.
- Conducting research at state and federal agencies and other facilities.
- Providing information to assist in proposal preparation.
- Focusing on projects with an emphasis on Oregon and Washington.
You would report to AINW Project Managers/Assistant Project Managers. We are seeking a candidate who can work full-time and travel frequently (up to 50% of your time) when needed for meetings and fieldwork.
Requirements for this position include:
- One to five years of prior archaeological experience
- M.A., M.S., or higher degree in archaeology or closely related field
- Professionally qualified in archaeology per the Secretary of the Interior's Standards and Guidelines, ideally
- Can obtain archaeology permits issued by Oregon, Washington, and federal agencies
- Strong scientific writing skills
