Position Summary
The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for an Associate or Full Professor to serve as the Director of the Research Laboratories of Archaeology ( RLA ) and Chair of the Curriculum in Archaeology. In their dual role as Director and Chair, the successful candidate will oversee the RLA's research, curatorial, education, and public outreach activities and coordinate the interdisciplinary undergraduate major and minor in archaeology. The successful candidate will have a tenured appointment in the Department of Anthropology. We seek an archaeologist whose research focuses on the Indian communities of the American South. Applicants should have a solid record of research including field work; museum experience, digital expertise, or lab skills that complement the candidate's research strengths will be considered an asset. Applicants should also have a strong record of scholarly publication, teaching and service; proven leadership and administrative skills; and the ability to work effectively with diverse communities and individuals, particularly Native ones.
