The Department of Anthropology at UNC-Chapel Hill seeks applicants who have a highly productive research and teaching record that focuses on the environment. The hire will be at the rank of distinguished full professor. Advanced associate professors and recently promoted full professors encouraged to apply. Research topic, geographic area, and subdisciplines are open. The ideal candidates should be involved in ethnographic, field or laboratory research with strong evidence of external support and student mentoring. Attractive research programs could focus on human-environment interactions, food systems, landscapes, ecosystem transitions, climate change, environmental justice, indigenous sovereignty and resource use, energy, conservation, water, land, natural resources, fisheries, ecologies of infrastructure, multispecies relations, or other topics of global significance. Evidence of leadership in one’s professional field or of administrative experience desired. We anticipate that successful applicants will complement the department’s existing faculty profile.
This Distinguished Professor position will teach graduate and undergraduate courses and conduct research in the fields of Anthropology while continuing their own research, participating in departmental service, and mentoring undergraduate/graduate students.
