POSITION: Archaeology Technician I
SALARY: $20.20, per hour DOE
REPORTS TO: Archaeologist Sr.
LOCATION: , Nespelem, WA
Basic Functions: Performs cultural resources work focusing on traditional properties, archaeology, collections, cultural plants, and museum. The job functions will vary between general office work to assisting senior staff and working independently. This position is designed for work in the Colville Tribal Museum in Coulee Dam and/or the Fort Okanogan Interpretive Center in Brewster. Position is contracted funded - no guarantee of continued employment should funding cease. There will be weekend work.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.
TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.
If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver's license and be eligible for the Tribes' Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalency and experience comparable to fulfill the functions of the position. Any experience in Anthropology, Native American Studies, or Museology/Collection Management or closely related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires knowledge of CCT history, culture, legends, and traditions of the 12 constituent tribes.
- Requires the knowledge of equipment such as: fax, copier, scanner, digital video-recorder, point-of-sale purchases, etc.
- Requires knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Programs- Word, Access, Excel. Use patience in dealing with a diverse population. Understand what Native American Studies, Botany/Plant Ecology, and Museum work means. Closely related experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Requires ability to perform all duties of the position in a high volume environment that may be dominated by distractions. Must be able to learn, understand, and apply Tribal rules, regulations and policies.
- Requires the ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in order to meet schedules and timelines. Requires the a
- bility to use a personal computer to produce correspondence, informational materials, and conduct basic research.
- Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality of private and sensitive information.
- Requires willingness to learn collections techniques.
- Requires willingness to work on tedious tasks such as photocopying documents.
- Requires a dependable and punctual work history.
- Requires the ability to work independently after initial training. Ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines.
- Requires the ability to maintain good judgement and common sense. Must work well with others.
