Job Description
This position is designed to assist in the completion of archaeological projects (survey, monitoring, testing, and/or data recovery) for AZTEC's Cultural Resource Group. Projects may be located in the Southwest or Great Basin regions. Below is a list of duties for this position.
Duties:
Assist with and/or direct archaeological field investigations
Assist crew members with the use of proper field methods and completion of field forms based on information provided in the work plan and/or field manual
Perform archaeological research and conduct site file searches at federal, state, tribal, and private repositories
Communicate effectively and work closely with internal and external team members and the public
Perform travel that may include overnight and/or out-of-state stays for extended periods of time

Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):
- Minimum of BA or BS in anthropology, archaeology, or closely related field; OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Cultural Resource Management
- Prior crew chief experience preferred
- Understanding of Southwest and/or Great Basin prehistory and/or history, archaeological method, and theory
- Experience participating in and/or directing survey, testing, data recovery and/or monitoring
- Experience using GPS and GIS (applications (Tablet, ArcGIS Pro)
- Ability to generate, organize, and maintain accurate field records that meet state and federal standards and guidelines
- Experience authoring or co-authoring technical reports is preferred
- Ability to perform fieldwork in adverse conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures, arid environments, dense vegetation) and carry up to 25 pounds of equipment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier
- Understanding of applicable federal and state Cultural Resource Management/Historic Preservation laws is preferred
