The successful candidate must have completed a Ph.D. prior to or shortly after the date of hire. We seek an archaeologist specializing in African Diaspora with a regional specialization in North America or the Caribbean, broadly trained in anthropology, with an excellent teaching record, an active research agenda, and a strong commitment to including students in ongoing research. A strong willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues in International Studies, Latinx Studies, African Diaspora Studies, History, and Environmental Studies is also preferred. Theoretical specialties should complement existing strengths within the Anthropology department.

Responsibilities include teaching a 3/2 course load over two semesters in each academic year. The successful candidate will teach at least one section of Introduction to Archaeology each year, upper-level courses in Archaeology, and classes dealing with the modern cultures and histories associated with their area of specialization. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the senior capstone in Anthropology and will be expected to engage with the College's liberal arts curriculum and with colleagues and students in interdisciplinary programs. As Kenyon strives for inclusive excellence, the candidate should demonstrate a commitment to interacting with diverse student populations. Review of applications will begin November 1, 2018, and continue until the position is filled.

To apply, candidates should visit the online application site found at http://careers.kenyon.edu. A complete application will be composed of 1) a cover letter discussing the applicant's research and scholarship undertaken, its relevance to the field or discipline, and prior teaching experience; 2) a statement of the applicant's teaching philosophy; 3) a Curriculum Vitae; 4) an unofficial transcript; and 5) three (3) letters of recommendation. All application materials must be submitted electronically through Kenyon's employment website.
