JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Regional Museum Division Director supervises the operations, and coordinates the exhibits, publicity and community programming and outreach of the Louisiana State Museum-Capitol Park. Thibodaux, Natchitoches and Patterson working under the direction of the Office of State Museum's Assistant Secretary and Deputy Assistant Secretary.
35% Coordinates, supervises and manages the operations of regional sites, overseeing a staff comprised of administrative and curatorial. Coordinates the work of all subordinate staff. Makes assignments, directs the work, and evaluates work of subordinates. Conducts performance planning and reviews. Counsels and disciplines subordinates when necessary on performance issues. Approves annual and sick leave requests. Makes recommendations regarding merit increases to appointing authority. Interviews job applications, make hiring recommendations to the appointing authority.
25%Actively seeks to increase awareness and engagement of the Museum within the greater, cultural academic, and philanthropic communities. Makes presentation to community and interest groups promoting the Louisiana State Museum, its exhibits and programming. Attends community and special events conferences promoting museum activities. Works with the Public Information Director to prepare brochure for promoting museum activities. Greets the public and schedules and conducts VIP tours of the facilities.
20%Plans, organizes and coordinates curatorial functions for Community Programs and Collections of regional sites, working in consultation with the LSM Interpretive Services, Education, and Collections Division Directors.
15%Prepares management reports such as budget proposals. personnel, operational activities and vehicle use. Approves routine purchase request of the sites. Establishes a procedure for admission receipts and bank deposits.
5%Performs other duties assigned.

A baccalaureate degree plus four years of professional level museum experience.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
A master's degree in the above qualifying fields will substitute for one year of the required experience.
