Job Summary
The majority of the graduate teaching assistants primary duties are in support of instruction including but not limited to the responsibilities below:
1. Serve as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory;
2. Assist a faculty member with teaching-related tasks;
3. Grade student assignments which require knowledge of subjects taught in a class or laboratory;
4. Meet with and/or tutor students, mentor students in disciplinary writing, hold office hours, prepare instructional materials, and assist during class and/or lab.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$737 to $1,473
Required Qualifications
1. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook, which can be found at http://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf
2. Must have at least applied to the Sociology or Anthropology Master's program at Illinois State University
3. For Teaching Assistant positions, state law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
4. Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University
