Job Description Chronicle Heritage is seeking a Staff Archaeologist to serve as a Laboratory Technician for our West Chester, Pennsylvania office. The selected candidate will assist in the processing and curation of materials from current and former projects in our on-site laboratory. Hire Type: Full-time, hourly Schedule: Monday-Friday, standard business hours Location: West Chester, Pennsylvania Responsibilities
- Cleaning, sorting, counting, and weighing cultural material
- Artifact cataloging materials to include bagging and tagging sorted items
- Data entry of cultural materials
- Prepare cultural materials for long-term curation
- Other duties as needed, which may include field work rotations
- Bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field
- Successful completion of an archaeology field school or demonstrated equivalent experience
- Archaeological laboratory experience
- Regular work in the on-site laboratory is required, which necessitates ability to travel/drive a vehicle to this location.
- Some laboratory work may require the ability to complete physically demanding tasks including carrying loads up to 30 pounds or more and standing or sitting in one place for long hours.
- Must understand and follow health and safety protocols with respect to possibly contaminated materials.
- Must be able to follow instructions from laboratory supervisor and organize one's own work; recognize and record scientific data; observe social and professional interactions and respond
