THE DEPARTMENT OF ANTHROPOLOGY AT WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY invites applications for a full-time, nine-month Lecturer appointment in Pullman, WA. This position is a one-year (9-month) appointment. We seek applicants who are strongly committed to quality undergraduate education and effective teaching. The area of expertise is open, however, we are looking for someone capable of offering a four-field Introduction to Anthropology and other introductory anthropology courses. It is anticipated that the successful candidate(s) will begin the appointment on August 16, 2024.

Job duties: include (a) teaching four courses (in-person and potentially online) per semester and contributing to departmental and university service. The position will primarily involve teaching lower-division anthropology courses such as Introduction to Anthropology, Global Cultural Diversity and/or Introduction to Biological Anthropology. The workload for this position will be 80% teaching, 20% Service.

Required Qualifications:

• An earned doctoral degree in Anthropology by August 15, 2024. A demonstrated record of successful college teaching in introductory anthropology courses. A demonstrated commitment to or potential for building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse university community.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Instructor-of-record teaching experience since graduation.

The Department of Anthropology is an academic unit located in the College of Arts and Sciences. Anthropology’s eighteen faculty conduct research, support courses and mentorship, and provide service at WSU’s campuses in Pullman, Vancouver, and the Tri-Cities. The department offers the BA at WSU’s Pullman and Vancouver campuses, and to its Global campus, and teaches courses in support of a minor and certificate in American Indian Studies. Partnering with the School of Biological Sciences, we also offer a BA in Human Biology at Pullman and Vancouver.
