AECOM is seeking (4) Archaeology Technician's to join our Sacramento and Oakland, CA Cultural Services teams. We are looking to hire 2 Technicians for our Oakland office and 2 Technicians for our Sacramento office. This is an on-call, as needed position.
The Archaeological Technician primarily performs fieldwork under the supervision of a Crew Chief, Field Director and/or Principal Investigator. Field projects could be located anywhere in Northern and Southern California, the Pacific Northwest, and Nevada. Candidates will need flexibility to occasionally travel for 8 to 10-day field sessions. Lodging (single occupancy) and meal expenses will be provided.

- Conduct all aspects of archaeological field work, including survey, site recordation, site testing and evaluations, monitoring, and data recovery.
- Perform manual labor including shovel test excavations.
- Can perform bending, kneeling, standing, lifting and carrying objects weighing 50 lbs. and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
- Assist with mapping responsibilities in the field, including collection of GPS data using Trimble units.
- Identification and documentation of precontact and historical sites and artifacts.
- Documentation using forms, field notes, and photo logs.
- Work independently under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member; and
- Conduct technical research and writing for reporting efforts.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Valid Driver's license with a good driving record is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field.
- A minimum of one year of experience with a wide range of field methodologies, including archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring.
- Completion of a university-based archaeological field school and relevant experience in related role.
- Experience with geospatial technology including GPS and GIS.
- Computer proficiency including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Relevant field experience in Northern California.
