Job Details

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications for a visiting position in Anthropology beginning in August 2024. We seek a broadly trained anthropologist who has a strong commitment to teaching within an undergraduate liberal arts and sciences setting. The individual would be expected to teach the equivalent of four courses a semester, at the introductory to upper level. The area of specialization is open, with special consideration given to candidates who are able to contribute to the College of Charleston’s Race, Equity, and Inclusion requirement and/or the Cultural Sustainability Certificate. At the time of appointment, the successful candidate will have teaching experience and (minimally) an M.A. in Anthropology.

Apply online at https://JOBS.COFC.EDU. Only electronic applications submitted via this website will be considered. Submit online: letter of application including teaching experience, curriculum vitae, unofficial graduate transcripts (official transcripts will be required for hiring), one sample syllabus (upload to “other document”) and contact information for two reference providers who will submit letters of recommendation online if contacted by the search chair. These reference letters should address teaching qualifications. Application deadline is April 22, 2024. Questions regarding the position can be directed to Dr. Maureen Hays at haysm@cofc.edu.

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology consists of 17 faculty (7 anthropologists and 10 sociologists) and has approximately 250 undergraduate majors (SOCY 175, ANTH 75). Applicants may learn more about the department at https://socanth.cofc.edu/
