AECOM has an opening for an Archaeologist in our Honolulu office to assist with a variety of projects. This position can be remote within the USA, supporting the Hawaii Historic Preservation office located in Kapolei, HI.

The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to
  • Review federal, state, and local projects for potential effects to historic properties in accordance with Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) Chapter 6E, Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR) Chapters 275 and 284, and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). This includes identification and inventory of historic properties, evaluation of significance, determination of effects to significant historic properties, development of mitigation commitments, development of mitigation plans, and/or verification, concurrence, or approval of the same.
  • Review Archaeological Inventory Surveys, Archaeological Assessment, and Archaeological Monitoring Plans for compliance with HAR Chapters 276 and 279.
  • Assist in the development and review of Programmatic Agreements and Memorandums of Agreement prepared in accordance with Section 106 of the NHPA.
  • Performs management, leadership, and accountability responsibilities.
  • Perform archival research and technical writing.
  • Interface with various federal, state, and local agencies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field;
  • 8 yrs of full-time professional experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in specialized training in archeological research, administration or management;

Preferred Qualifications
  • Meet Secretary of the Interior professional qualifications in archeology, including: Professional experience or equivalent specialized training in archeological research, administration or management;
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS;
  • Four months of supervised field and analytic experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion.

Compensation

Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position typically is $71,000 - 100,000. Please note that this role can be based anywhere in the United States and compensation data will vary in each location, including higher or lower than the stated range.
