The Consumer Insights Researcher develops and leads Belkin's qualitative and quantitative consumer research activities to allow us to uncover critical insights. Range for this position:
$65,000 - $85,000
Factors such as geographic location, academic credentials, relevant experience, and specific knowledge, skills and abilities will influence the actual salary offered. In addition to a competitive market-based salary, compensation also includes a performance-based bonus, and in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. The Consumer Insights Researcher develops and leads Belkin's qualitative and quantitative consumer research activities to allow us to uncover critical insights. This fundamental information helps to shape our roadmaps and business decisions in known and new business areas, across countries and populations.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Manage all aspects of Consumer Insights Research for both qualitative and quantitative studies including budgeting/bidding, methodology creation, study design, questionnaire/discussion guide development, survey programming and testing, data collection and quota completion, data processing, analysis, and reporting
- Partner with the Product Management, Marketing, Sales, and Design teams to drive insights-based decision making for new and existing categories, target consumers, communications, products, design, and marketing
- Lead intake meetings with stakeholders to understand business needs and recommend corresponding research approaches to answer key business questions
- Provide cost effective resource options for supporting projects using consultants and temp labor
- Skillfully use the features of online research platforms dScout and quantilope
- Manage project budgets efficiently and mindfully
- During each research project, welcome and coach the cross-functional team and invite them to participate in each project actively
- Recommend suitable research methodologies to find and validate functional and emotional consumer insights
- Conduct quantitative research, including online customer surveys, multivariate regression analysis, Net Promoter Score, and conjoint analysis
- Moderate qualitative research, including ethnographic studies, 1:1 consumer interviews, and focus groups.
- Craft quantitative and qualitative reports including sub-group comparison, stat testing, key insights, executive summary, and recommendations
- Effectively present research findings to internal stakeholders and external audiences
- Make research results available to the audience while maintaining due diligence regarding confidentiality
- Stay aware of secondary research on consumer trends to identify insights
- Stay current on new research methods, implement best practices to ensure Belkin has processes that provide competitive advantage
- Manage primary and secondary research vendors, when applicable
Education and Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years' experience leading qualitative and quantitative research projects with top brands in Consumer-Packaged Goods or Consumer Electronics, preferably as in-house lead
- BA/BS in experimental psychology, anthropology, statistics or related field, MA/MS or other advanced degree preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead qualitative and quantitative research that has identified and validated powerful insights
- Skill in translating business needs into questions/hypothesis for research
- Effective in driving insight-based decisions across the organization
- Experience working with nimble, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and the knowledge of trade-offs associated with each method
- It is possible that the CI Researcher will spend 10% of his/her time in the field; domestic and international travel is possible.
