Are you looking to join a growing cultural resources team to help complete exciting archaeological projects including survey, testing projects, and data recovery excavations? We are looking for a Project Archaeologist to work in our Tempe, Arizona office as part of our Environmental Services Line, cultural resources, group in the Western Rocky Mountain Division. As part of our team, you will collaborate with our established PIs and network of archaeologists across the nation. This is a full-time salaried position with health care and retirement benefits.

We are looking for a Project Archaeologist to work in our Tempe, Arizona office as part of our Environmental Services Line, cultural resources, group in the Western Rocky Mountain Division. Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Ensure crews return home safely at the end of each workday.
- Maintain quality standards on all projects.
- Design, conduct, and report on archaeological investigations of all types (prehistoric, historic, in industrial, rural, and urban environments) and phases (survey, evaluation, testing, data recovery excavation, and other types of mitigation) to regulatory agency standards on projects located in the Southwest regions with an emphasis on Arizona and New Mexico and have the ability to travel in support of projects under the direction of PIs in other areas including, but not limited to Utah, Colorado, and Nevada.
- Conduct independent prehistoric and historic documentary research
- Develop proposals, methodologies, and research designs for all types and phases of archaeological and cultural resources projects.
- Supervise and coordinate field and laboratory crews.
- Coordinate and assist internal and external clients with cultural resources regulatory compliance.
- Market our archaeological services to new and existing clients.
- Manage projects within budget and deadline constraints.
Preferred:
- Professional experience as a Field Director/Project Manager for cultural resources inventories in Arizona and or New Mexico and a general knowledge of Southwestern US or Northwestern Mexican archaeology.
- Professional experience working on power generation and renewable energy projects.
- Professional experience working on commercial projects.
- Experience marketing archaeological services.
- Intimate knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.Permits to conduct archaeological work on BLM and state lands in Arizona and or New Mexico.
Required
- Professional experience as an Archaeological Field Director/Project Manager.
- Graduate degree in Anthropology or Archaeology or equivalent industry experience.
- A minimum of five (5) years of archaeological field experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely using both written and verbal skills.
- Ability to multi-task within flexible/fluid schedules and travel to meet project needs.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting and walking on uneven surfaces carrying at least 20 lbs. of equipment, and ability to work in extreme (hot/cold) weather conditions.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Ability to pass drug screening.
- Possession of a U.S. driver's license, with acceptable violation history.
