This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Archaeologist for our Shelton, CT office. The following locations will also be considered: Glastonbury, CT; Providence, RI; Boston, MA; and Chelmsford, MA. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment - Heritage and Cultural Resources Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
- Proven track record of at least 5-7 years as a Project, Contract, and Client Manager in the context of Section 106/110 compliance throughout the Northeast and New England.
- Ability to supervise and lead professional teams of heritage staff.
- Expertise in a defined archaeological subfield as evidenced by publications or presentations.
- Excellent technical writing skills and proven ability to provide QA/QC leadership for all aspects of project delivery.
- Passion for working in a collaborative team environment and the ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences.
- Ability to travel for projects.
- Proven track record upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
- Remain current in the latest archaeological methods, procedures, subject matter, and techniques.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Meets all Secretary of the Interior (SOI) qualification standards for archaeology.
- Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, historic preservation, or a related field; M.A./Ph.D. preferred.
- Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA).
- Proven track record of at least 5-7 years as a project/contract and client manager in a heritage and cultural resource management context throughout the Northeast and New England.
- Ability to supervise and lead professional teams of heritage staff.
- Expertise in a defined archaeological subfield, evidenced by publications or presentations.
- Excellent technical writing skills and proven ability to provide QA/QC leadership for all aspects of project delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Evidenced and active participation in professional practice organizations.
- MA degree in Anthropology, historic preservation, or a related field; PhD.
- 5-7 years of professional and managerial experience in the heritage industry.
