Biological Anthropology, Visiting Assistant Professor

The Anthropology Department at Skidmore College invites applications for a one-year, full-time visiting assistant professor position in biological anthropology beginning September 2024. The College is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the growing diversity and excellence of the academic community, particularly through their inclusive teaching. We seek a broadly trained biological anthropologist or biological archaeologist with expertise in human health and inequality. The successful candidate will have proven excellence in teaching with theoretical and regional expertise that complement existing department offerings. The position requires teaching 18-credits (5 courses), including Anthropology of the Human Past(AN102; both semesters), a mid-level geographic or topical course, and two upper-level undergraduate seminars. Courses should be designed for undergraduate majors and non-majors and with minimal prerequisites. We are particularly interested in courses that can contribute to interdisciplinary programs. Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching and a strong commitment to undergraduate education at a liberal arts college. Individuals from underrepresented groups, or who have experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds, are encouraged to apply. PhD required at time of appointment.

Pay Range: $64,000 - $68,000
