Our Northern California Cultural Resources Group performs all types of cultural resources studies for a wide range of project types throughout Northern California. Preference will be given to candidates in the San Francisco Bay area, Sacramento area, San Joaquin Central Valley, and Sierra foothills.

The as-needed Archaeologist will assist Senior Cultural Resource Staff on a project-by-project basis. Duties will primarily include fieldwork (pedestrian survey, artifact and site recording, construction monitoring, and excavation); preparing survey summaries, narrative notes, and keeping photologs; preparing Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) forms; assisting with report preparation; assisting Senior Architectural Historians with architectural survey; coordinating with other cultural resource and environmental planning staff and subconsultants; interacting with construction crews/foremen and clients; and may also include coordinating fieldwork and crews depending on experience.

Applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of archaeological experience. Candidates must be familiar with the principles of field survey, be competent in the collection of data from archaeological sites and artifacts to complete California DPR forms, and should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with a variety of infrastructure and development project types, document types, and private sector/public agency clients is desirable. Familiarity with a wide range of archaeological site types and cultural resources specific to Northern California is also desired. Applicants must have a strong work ethic, positive attitude, experience working in a team-oriented environment, and the ability to complete assigned tasks independently.

Please provide a detailed resume or curriculum vitae and cover letter demonstrating your archaeological experience and how you meet this position's requirements. Please list/describe any additional skills.

Hourly wages will be based on qualifications and/or experience. Expected starting pay range of $20 to $35 per hour.
