Description

The Department of Anthropology at Yale University seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in anthropological archaeology, with an initial five-year appointment beginning July 1, 2024. The successful applicant will have a research and teaching profile involving the environmental archaeology of complex societies. Applicants should be involved in field and laboratory research on the broad range of human interactions with the environment and have relevant methodological expertise such as the analysis of plants, animals, and/or landscapes. The research focus may involve specialization in archaeobotany, zooarchaeology, geoarchaeology, or geospatial analysis. The geographic area of specialization is open, with the expectation that the successful applicant will complement the department's existing faculty profile. The teaching expectation is normally four courses per academic year.

Qualifications

The appointee must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree or have completed all requirements for that degree by their start date.

Application Instructions

Applicants should submit an application through apply.interfolio.com/128650. Initial applications should include a cover letter, CV, 2-3 page research statement, and 1-2 page teaching statement. Letters of recommendation are not required at this initial stage but will be requested later. Review of applications will begin on September 20, 2023 and continue until the position is filled. Please contact Prof. Doug Rogers, Chair of the Anthropology Department, at doug.rogers@yale.edu with any questions.
