Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Environment, Safety, Health & Quality (ESH&Q) group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as an Architectural Historian/ Industrial Archaeologist Our team works a hybrid 9x80 schedule located at our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off! Responsibilities Include:
- Acts as Principal Investigator (PI) on INL Cultural Resource Management Office (CRMO) projects for historic properties in the built environment
- Subject Matter expert (SME) / Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for cultural resource review of projects and undertakings for INL historic properties in the built environment
- NHPA Section 106 compliance for INL historic properties in the built environment, including survey, analysis, and report completion
- NHPA Section 110 compliance and research for INL historic properties in the built environment, including survey, analysis, and report completion
- Conducts research and produces written contexts and reports to document the cultural and scientific history of INL
- Conducts research and produces written contexts and reports to document historic land use on INL
- Applies knowledge of federal laws, regulations, state law, DOE orders, professional standards, and a broad knowledge of INL built environment, land use, and history
- Demonstrates good judgement in applying appropriate methods and techniques for analyzing and solving complex issues from projects with a diversity of scope
- Participate in long term strategies regarding built environment resources, including but not limited to: EBR-I Preservation Plan, Built Environment Inventory Updates, Long term display opportunities with historic objects, Section 110 preservation issues
- Represents CRMO expertise within architectural history to internal customers and some external customers
- Masters of Arts or Masters of Science and 3 - 6+ years relevant experience or PhD and 2 - 4+ years relevant experience in architectural history, historic preservation, archaeology, anthropology, history, or closely related field
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" / "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
- Meets Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Architectural History or Archaeology (36 CFR 61 Appendix A) (https://www.nps.gov/history/local-law/gis/html/quals.html)
- Valid Drivers License
- 1year of full-time experience in cultural resource management relevant to the built environment and historic architectural properties
- 1 year of full-time experience as a principal investigator
- Experience or working knowledge related to NHPA Section 106 and Section 110 compliance as pertains to the built environment and historic objects
- Experience and/or working knowledge of architectural survey and inventory process
- Experience or working knowledge of NEPA process and integration of Section 106
- Experience and/or working knowledge of technical reports that record historic property evaluation methodology and analyses, results, interpretations, and compliance recommendations;
- PR0300: Salary Grade 210 ($93,492 - $154,212)/ PR0400: Salary Grade 220 ($107,520 - $177,336)
