Work at Anthropology News

DESCRIPTION

The Books Design Studio creates the full breadth of solutions that power the world's biggest and most loved digital reading products. This includes everything from the tools and services that authors and publishers use to make their books, the discovery and shopping experiences our customers use to find their next great read, and the apps and Kindle devices used for reading across the globe. To help us delight our customers, we are seeking a talented, creative, and customer-obsessed Senior UX Researcher to join our research team, reporting in to our Head of Research.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

In this role you will inform and guide tactical and strategic decisions for digital reading devices, including our recently launched, stylus enabled E-ink device - Kindle Scribe. Your research will focus on understanding the experience, needs, and challenges of customers and digital readers. You will be responsible for helping shape and execute research strategy, working closely with partners to understand the largest challenges and opportunities with E-ink digital reading devices, stylus usage while reading (annotations, note taking, etc), and more. You are able to synthesize primary and secondary data to perform quick and thorough analyses leading to focused, insightful, and actionable findings aligned to business goals. You are highly collaborative, with a strong record of influencing outcomes and proposing well-informed new directions. You will utilize your unique knowledge and talent to drive actionable insights that help guide decisions as we create engaging, beautiful, and customer-focused experiences.

In this role, your research will inform and guide decisions impacting the next generation of digital reading experiences. You will translate business questions into cohesive research plans with consideration for various approaches, mixed-methods, and necessary rigor. You are able to describe research methods thoroughly, and use artifacts effectively to communicate findings to non-research audiences. You proactively identify research opportunities that improve the customer experience and effectively make tradeoffs to manage time constraints, quality, and resources. You have applied experience in a range of methods including but not limited to contextual inquiry, interviews, survey design, usability testing, concept testing, RITE studies, and participatory design. You are adept at persuading decision makers to align action on research findings - inspiring them and helping them internalize opportunities to delight customers and differentiate our service.

WHAT YOU BRING

You geek out over user research, psychology, ethnography and have a understanding of user research methods and best practices; you also have a nimble, creative and pragmatic approach to research. You are a passionate, curious researcher with strong observational and analytical skills, an impressive ability to collaborate with cross functional partners, and a relentless determination to do what is right for Amazon's customers. You are able to operate independently while delivering high-quality outputs. You will work on overlapping projects, so you are good at multi-tasking, juggling competing priorities, and organizing yourself to ensure you deliver on your commitments. You are eager to continually learn, grow and improve the craft of research within the team and Amazon.
