Job Details
The Department of Anthropology, Washington University in St. Louis, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Environmental Archaeology at the level of Assistant Professor to begin in the Fall semester of 2024. We seek an active, interdisciplinary-minded field and/or lab researcher studying the Archaeology of Human-Environmental Interactions, Climate Change, or Sustainability, to complement a department with a record of excellence in archaeology and environmental analysis. All areas of regional focus and time-period of expertise will be considered. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and an active research program engaging novel methods and questions of contemporary importance with real-world implications, and the ability to obtain external research funding. Duties will include teaching courses, conducting research, writing for publication, advising students, participating in department governance, and university service. Applicants must have demonstrated excellence in archaeological field research, as well as a track record in attracting external research funds.
