Under the general direction of a Senior Environmental Scientist, the incumbent plans, develops, and performs a variety of complex archeology related environmental studies to assess the effect of transportation projects on Historic Properties and Historical Resources. Responsibilities may include leading a team in support of these activities. Occasional travel and overnight stays may be required.

This position is located in Stockton, San Joaquin County.
This position is conducive to teleworking, and we are currently working in a hybrid environment.
Work will be done in a climate-controlled office under artificial lighting. While in the field, the Incumbent may be exposed to a variety of hazardous and/or unpleasant field conditions, including wet, rainy, cold, or hot weather. Hard hat, safety vest or approved safety shirt, and eye protection must be worn at all times in the field. Occasional overtime, travel, and overnight stays may be required.
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

- Education in Anthropology, with concentration in CA Archaeology.
- Archaeological research, administration, or management.
- Experience in supervised field and analytical experience in general North American Archaeology.
- Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion.
