Internship

Diabetes is a pesky monster - and that's putting it mildly. If you're serious about helping us face it head on, come join us!

For a behind-the-scenes look, check out our Monster Culture blog, this little video and Roche code4life to see what makes mySugr and Roche tick.

Here's what we're looking for:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and curious human factors engineering / research intern to join our growing human-centered design research team starting in July/August, 2023.

You'll join great people and will help us gain insights about our users and their needs and abilities so that we can create better products and excel in our mission to "make diabetes suck less". You will get the opportunity to learn more about applied research in product development by getting creative and actually doing it yourself with the support of our team. Working in multidisciplinary teams together with UX designers, developers and others, you will support and have the opportunity to manage the whole research process from research design and recruiting to conducting the research with real users via interviews, usability tests and more. You will also analyse the data to gain insights, which you will document and share with the team and product management as input for future product development.

We'd love to talk to you if you want to be part of our mission and our amazing team.

Essential skills for your mission:
  • Curiosity about user experience, health & safety, and technology.
  • Good knowledge of user-centred design practices and research methods
  • Passion for talking to people and understanding their needs and abilities
  • Attentive and empathic nature
  • Clear communication, time management and organisational skills
  • Fast learner, initiative, and a "can do" attitude
  • Team spirit and love to work in an open, iterative and collaborative way
  • Great written and verbal communication skills in English (and German)
  • You are either an EU citizen or hold a valid Austrian work permit

Bonus skills:
  • Background in social or cultural sciences, user research, user experience design, human-computer interaction, customer and market research, psychology, human factors / usability engineering, biomedical engineering, anthropology or other related field
  • Knowledge of any human factors / usability engineering guidelines for medical devices
  • Technical understanding and love for innovative apps
  • Written and verbal communication skills in German
  • Knowledge of the diabetes industry or other comparable health industries
  • Experience working in startup environments

What to expect:
  • Ambitious and passionate people building meaningful products for a global audience
  • An innovative agile working environment allowing for collaboration with really smart people and knowledge sharing in cross-functional teams
  • A growing organization with room for development
  • Not a corporate environment, but the leverage of a global market leader (Roche family)
  • Loads of benefits (brand new Apple hardware, fitness, public transport, lunch benefit, language classes...)
  • Flexible working hours and home office policy, 5 weeks vacation
  • A kick-ass office with a rooftop terrace, fully stocked kitchen and amazing barista coffee machines in the middle of Vienna… oh, and did we mention the best team in the world!
