This position serves as the Senior Archeologist for projects involving archaeological resources, historic properties, and tribal resources; and assist in cultural/historic resources project/tasks management, technical quality management, and client/business development. Your Role:

Tetra Tech is seeking a Senior Archeologist to provide support on various environmental projects throughout Texas. This position will support a variety of environmental contracts, including commercial and local government. Duties will include:
  • Design and implement testing strategies for all phases of Cultural Resources investigations.
  • Serve as a Principal Investigator and author for Culture Resources Reports.
  • Manage and/or coordinate projects with various internal project managers and external clients.
  • Prepare technical proposals and budgets for cultural resources investigations.
  • Oversee and perform all aspects of cultural/historic resources projects and related tasks including field research and database searches, data collection and analysis, regulatory agency and tribal consultations, technical reports and management/mitigation plans, and personnel supervision and client interactions.
  • The position may require extensive outdoor work as well as extended overnight travel. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Cultural Resources Management, Archaeology, Anthropology or closely related field.
  • 10 years of experience conducting and managing archeological investigations.
  • Experience with field-directing all phases of archaeological survey.
  • Must have an advanced understanding of the cultural/historic resource aspects of the NHPA and other environmental laws.
  • Must meet state and federal qualifications for conducting archaeological review and compliance projects, including the professional qualifications outlined in the Secretary of the Interior's Standards and Guidelines, Archaeology and Historic Preservation's "Professional Qualifications Standards."
  • 8+ years in the consulting industry.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have a good driving record and a valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to operate 4WD equipment and trailer attachments is preferred.
  • Knowledge of state regulations, relationships with SHPOs, and ability to be a Principal Investigator in at least Texas.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training considered a plus.
  • Ability to walk over uneven and vegetated terrain, carrying field equipment and coolers (up to 50 pounds), and occasional sampling activities such as hand augering.
  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
