Geography & Anthropology are looking for a Graduate Coordinator. This position is responsible for the coordination of the Geography & Anthropology Graduate Office, including admissions to the program and support to applicants, human resource management processes for graduate assistants and personnel paperwork, utilization and maintenance of various programs and processes to assist Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) with maintaining eligibility for assistantships and updating and managing the Graduate Assistant budget. This position serves as the assistant to the Director of Graduate Studies and liaison to the Graduate School in providing academic and administrative support to the program in order to maintain proper university procedures and protocols.

Job Responsibilities

ACADEMIC - Works alongside the Director of the Graduate Studies program and serves as liaison to Graduate School Staff. Provides academic support to make sure the program and each graduate student remains in compliance with all university procedures and protocols. Ensures graduate program website, including program information, faculty list, course descriptions and program requirements are current and accurate. Update the site to conform to revised rules and regulations guidebook; addition of current event and announcements; notification of awards, fellowships, etc. - 20%

ADMINISTRATIVE -Provides administrative support to make sure the Graduate Studies Office maintains records properly, and instructs faculty and students on proper university procedures and protocols. - 20%

CLASS SCHEDULING/REGISTRATION - Creates and manages all departmental class offerings each semester. Manages all details, mainframe registration, student enrollment; works with the registrar's office to update changes in instructors, class rooms, course times, section numbers. Supports registration for graduate students for classes and hours, and provides counseling to student regarding all aspects of their assistantship and maintaining eligibility in our program. Utilizes various electronic LSU programs and processes in order to facilitate, monitor and maintain compliance for all graduate students. - 20%

ADMISSIONS - Coordination of admissions process as well as offering support to applicants of our Graduate Program. Processes new student applications and coordinates with faculty and Graduate Committee to circulate files. Assists with orientation and advising of new graduate students to our program. - 15%

BUDGET/FINANCE - Manages and updates the Graduate Assistant budget. Maintain records of expenditures, encumbrances and balances, and monitors and tracks budget expenditures in order to inform the Director of Graduate program on the status of the budget as needed. Processes and disburses all student awards and scholarships; along with processing expense reports for all graduate student travel. - 10%

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT/PERSONNEL - Appoints newly accepted Graduate Assistants into our program through the various Workday system processes. Initiates Hiring and Onboarding of new student employees, performs compensation actions and assists cost center manager with costing allocations. - 10%

Other duties as assigned. - 5%

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level: Bachelor's

Year of Experience: 3 years of experience including some accounting experience or a Master's degree and 1 year of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Years of Experience: 5 years of experience including some accounting experience

Specific Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on spreadsheet data manipulation and the ability to learn and utilize new computer programs/software.
