JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Anthropology (https://anth.la.psu.edu/) at The Pennsylvania State University at University Park, PA, USA, invites applications for a tenure-line Assistant Professor position starting Fall 2023. We seek anthropologists engaged in public-facing scholarship that expands and promotes understanding human responses to climate risk and environmental change. Applications are encouraged from scholars whose research features human ecology/ethnography, visual anthropology, archaeology, biological anthropology, or integrative research among these subdisciplines. Regardless of methodological or regional specialization, their scholarship should feature public engagement and be conducted in collaboration with descendant/stakeholder communities.
Candidates must demonstrate ability for effective teaching at university levels, the potential to obtain external funding, a record of academic outputs, and an innovative and integrative research program involving community engagement. In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to or envision contributing towards building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community. A Ph.D. in Anthropology or related field must be completed by the time of appointment. Duties will involve a combination of teaching and research, based on the candidate's qualifications.
