HELIX Environmental Planning, Inc., a growing, California-based environmental consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Cultural Resources Project Manager in our Los Angeles County (Pasadena) office. HELIX offers cultural resources, environmental, biological, acoustical, air quality, and GIS services to both the public and private sectors. The Senior Cultural Resources Project Manager will be responsible for cultural resources studies for a wide range of project types throughout the Los Angeles and southern California region. The Project Manager will be supported by and work closely with the Southern California Cultural Resources Group Manager. Supporting business development is an important aspect of the position and includes preparing proposals, participating in client and agency meetings, and attending client outreach activities to generate business leads. Technical duties include project management; document preparation; coordination with other cultural resources and environmental planning staff, subconsultants, and Tribal representatives; logistical support of field staff; and QA/QC of the field-to-reporting process. Oversight and direct participation in field survey, excavation, laboratory analysis, and construction monitoring may also be required.

The ideal candidate will be an individual with archaeological consulting and business development experience, including experience in the preparation of cultural resources proposals and technical reports. Candidates must have a positive attitude and experience working in a team-oriented environment as well as possess excellent written, verbal communication, and analytical skills. Experience with a variety of utility, infrastructure and development project types, document types, and private sector/public agency clients is desirable. Knowledge of the California environmental and regulatory setting is desired.

Salary will be based on qualifications and/or experience, with a robust benefits package. Expected starting pay range of $100,000 to $135,000.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements for Senior Cultural Resources Project Manager:
  • Master's Degree or higher in archaeology, anthropology, history, or closely related field with a concentration in archaeology
  • Registered Professional Archaeologist
  • At least 10 years of experience in archaeology that includes preparation of proposals and archaeological studies/reports and experience with agency consultation/coordination
  • A successful track record in business development in California, with proven sales generation and client relationships
  • Knowledge of the federal (NEPA/NHPA/NAGPRA) and California laws and regulations (CEQA, Health and Safety, AB 52) pertaining to historic and archaeological resource management and an understanding of regulatory agency programs, procedures, and policies related to CRM
  • Experience with Southern California coastal and inland prehistoric and historic archaeology within Los Angeles and Ventura counties
  • Experience with Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III archaeological survey, analysis, and documentation requirements
  • Experience coordinating with local Tribal representatives, resulting in positive Tribal relationships
  • Strong research, writing, organizational, and verbal communication skills
  • Valid CA driver's license and clean driving record

Additional skills/accomplishments considered a plus:
  • Knowledge of local agency and municipality guidelines for CEQA cultural resource compliance
  • Existing client relationships
  • Archaeological experience in Kern, Kings, or Santa Barbara counties
