2023-2024 Visiting Assistant Professor in Anthropology

Washington College invites applications for a broadly trained cultural anthropologist for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Anthropology. This is a 1 year appointment for the 2023-2024 academic year with the possibility of renewal. The expected teaching load is three courses per semester, with optional teaching opportunities in the summer. At this time, all classes are planned for in-person learning.

The area of specialization within cultural anthropology is open. Teaching responsibilities will include 1-2 sections of Introduction to Anthropology each semester, as well as a combination of courses on candidates preferred topics, a First Year Seminar, and other courses that support our departments curricular needs. Responsibilities may also include supervising a small number of senior capstone projects. We seek colleagues who are invested in undergraduate education and who teach in creative, experiential, and interdisciplinary ways.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Anthropology is preferred, although applicants who are ABD will be considered.
