The Department of History, Anthropology, and Philosophy at Augusta University seeks a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Biological Anthropology. Appointment to begin August 2023. Specialties are open, but preference will be given to candidates with the ability to teach Forensic Anthropology, Bioarchaeology, and/or Paleopathology. The successful candidate will teach upper division courses in Biological Anthropology and a lower-division Biological Anthropology 1105 class and lab for the Gen Ed core. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and display a compelling research agenda. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to help build the bioanthropology curriculum within the anthropology major program. A PhD in Anthropology with a clear focus on Biological Anthropology required by time of appointment. Standard duties for academic-year faculty include teaching undergraduate anthropology courses, advising and mentoring students, maintaining a strong research program, and providing service to the Department, College, University, and one's profession.

Responsibilities
Teaching courses as assigned; holding office hours, providing timely grading and student feedback; adhering to all academic policies of the University; maintenance of a high quality research program; attendance at faculty meetings and other required university functions; and publication of peer-reviewed scholarship.

Required Qualifications
Earned doctorate in Anthropology (with a clear focus on Biological Anthropology) from an accredited college and or university at the time of appointment.
Demonstrated potential for teaching effectiveness with diverse student populations
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching undergraduates both in person and in online asynchronous courses.
