Position Highlights
The University of Arizona Press, an award-winning publisher of scholarly and regional books, seeks a motivated professional to plan and execute publicity strategy for the Press, including earned media, public events, and social media, for 55 to 60 trade, scholarly and reprint titles per year. This position manages author and publishing-partner relations and represents the University of Arizona Press to regional and national media outlets and other local and national partners, including initiating, developing, and maintaining strong business relationships with editors, producers, and critics across a range of media outlets. This position requires travel, including some out-of-state travel, with trips typically lasting 3-4 days This is an opportunity to join a department that helps represent the University of Arizona to the larger world through the publication of influential books in a variety of fields and genres, including literature and poetry, regional nonfiction, Indigenous studies, Latinx studies, astronomy, anthropology and more.
This position is based at the UA Campus Main Library located in Tucson, AZ and is eligible for flexible scheduling for individuals who reside in Arizona.

Duties & Responsibilities
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
Manages all stages and aspects of publicity strategies or campaigns for University of Arizona Press titles to promote sales and Press brand.
Pitches, schedules, manages, and promotes author appearances and maintains Press events calendar, includes planning and executing events for trade authors, 4-6 per year.
Acts as liaison between relevant institutions, booksellers, community organizations, event venues, and/or university departments and the Press to promote sales and Press brand.
Manages Press social media channels, including creation of content and graphics.
Creates Press materials and media lists, with goal of securing national, regional, and local media placements across all platforms - print, broadcast, and online-only.
Creates compelling story ideas, pitch letters, excerpt selections, features narratives, interview content, and author endorsements, with goal of obtaining feature coverage, interviews, profiles and other media coverage for the Press, its authors and its books.
Initiates and maintains strong working relationships with new media outlets and contacts, both in traditional print and broadcast media as well as online-only platforms, and responds to media requests. Pursues coverage creatively and aggressively, with effective follow-up and follow-through.
Manages title campaign updates, including distribution of reviews and other media coverage.
Supplies digital visual content to media as appropriate, including author photos, jacket images, and interior illustrations, within copyright guidelines.
Coordinates with authors and UA Press Sales Manager to enhance sales opportunities at lecture venues, book talks, and author events and exhibits.
Assists UA Press Marketing Manager in analyzing book market and advises on media trends for program planning and future development.
Represents the Press with professionalism and enthusiasm at local and out-of-state book events, interacting with authors and customers, up to ten times per year.
Maintains publicity budget, including timely processing/coding of invoices.
Works with student workers and interns to delegate publicity tasks and other appropriate learning opportunities.
