Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology
The Department of Anthropology in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor of cultural anthropology with a focus on applied anthropology, effective Fall 2023. The department seeks candidates broadly trained in anthropology who will contribute to the department's pedagogical program in four-field anthropology, and contribute to developing the department's focus on applied work. Topical and ethnographic areas of expertise are open, though the department seeks candidates who can reinforce and extend the department's topical and area foci. Especially interesting to the department will be candidates pursuing community-based research programs, natural resource management, social and environmental justice, or work by, with, and for indigenous peoples.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to research as well as to undergraduate and graduate education. The Maxwell School especially seeks candidates open to collaboration and an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and research. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two courses per semester, maintain an active research program and serve on departmental and other committees. A Ph.D. in Anthropology is expected at time of appointment.
The school/department seeks candidates whose research, teaching or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education.
