The Department of Anthropology, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a professorial-stream tenure track appointment in Sociocultural Anthropology at the Assistant Professor level to commence July 1, 2023.

 

This opportunity is open to qualified individuals who self-identify as Black peoples of African Descent (for example Africans and African heritage from the Caribbean, Americas, Europe). Candidate Qualifications:

A PhD in hand or by July 1, 2023. The PhD must be in Anthropology, or in a closely related discipline, with significant training in anthropological approaches and methodologies. For related disciplines, candidates must articulate clearly how they incorporate and interpret anthropological theories and methodologies in their research and teaching statements. Candidates must also demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in teaching and service and have produced publications appropriate to their career stage.

 

 

Research/Practice Expertise:

 

Teaching:

      • The successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The position will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching.
      • Pedagogical innovation in high-priority areas such as experiential education and technology-enhanced learning is preferred.
      • Excellence, or promise of excellence for early career scholars, in teaching, as evident in: the teaching statement; teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations (e.g., high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning); teaching evaluations; strong letters of reference.
