The Department of Sociology and Anthropology in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Rowan University invites applications for an open rank tenure-track faculty position (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) in Sociology beginning September 1, 2023. The position is open to candidates specializing broadly in sociological theory and immigration. A familiarity with sociological theoretical perspectives using a social justice lens to conduct both quantitative and qualitative research is required. Applicants with focus on any subareas of immigration including international migration are encouraged to apply. Further, the ideal candidate will be prepared to collaborate with the various Centers and Institutes on research and grant writing.

Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in both research and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to seek external funding for research and participate in departmental initiatives including collaborative research, teaching and learning projects. Applicants must produce high quality scholarly research, teach undergraduate and graduate courses of multiple modalities (online, hybrid and in person), and be committed to department, college and university.

Applicants must have a PhD in Sociology in-hand by September 1, 2023.

  • Clear and robust research agenda, with history of publications and grant applications;
  • Evidence of effective teaching and mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students;
  • Professional engagement in local, state, regional, national, or international organizations.

The Sociology and Anthropology Department offers a supportive environment to students wishing to pursue undergraduate degrees and certificates in Sociology, Anthropology, Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, Human Services, and developing graduate and undergraduate degrees in Social Work.
