The Humanities Department at the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester invites applications for a tenure-eligible Assistant Professor in Anthropology beginning on 1 July 2023. We seek a cultural anthropologist with experience in ethnographic research, an active research program, and a commitment to liberal arts teaching. We will consider all research specializations, with special interest in African American Studies, comparative urban studies, and/or East Asian studies. The position carries a 3/2 teaching load. The successful candidate will teach core courses in Eastman’s First-Year Writing Seminar and create a range of elective courses in their area of study and related fields. A PhD completed by Fall 2022, along with experience teaching in a liberal arts setting, is preferred.
