Job Details
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology (http://socanth.olemiss.edu) at the University of Mississippi invites applications for the Director of the Center for Archaeological Research (http://www.olemiss.edu/research/anthropology/archaeology/). Start date will be August 2023. We will consider candidates beginning at the rank of advanced Assistant Professor level (or those with commensurate experience) or higher. The successful candidate will oversee the Center for Archaeological Research and teach three courses per year in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in anthropology and four-field training, with expertise in North American archaeology, preferably with research experience in the southeastern U.S. Applicants must have a demonstrated record of external funding, including grants and contracts, experience in cultural resource management (CRM), and a strong publishing record. Experience teaching and mentoring students will allow the successful candidate to be fully integrated with the academic mission of the department. Appointment: 9 month.
